this is the rhythm of the night

So tomorrow....my day off. Perfect day for a free show at Mcarthur Park. Chana has been in my walkman and on my late IPod(RIP) for the last year. If you have a chance, come out and have a few drinks with me in the park. Below is a video of hers as well as my favorite scene from a movie shot in the infamous park.

...but i just can't justify your love

Holy Fucken Shit!!!!!! Anyone remember happy fucken hardcore. I spent so much of my raving years fucked up in Happy hardcore rooms as a kid. Little Boots just took me back ages by posting a version of Heart of Gold. She talks about the Bonkers version but i was partial to the Force & Styles version. If you don't know or have never heard of happy hardcore....Imagine the disney lightparade on speed and everyone dancing in fastfoward with tiny hearts and stars shooting from the speakers. Here are some of the classics....the formula is basically you take any song with cheesy vocals, speed it up to a ridiculous pace and hope all the kids drop E.
Ahhhh......memories

I'm watching the city tonight

I just ran across a pretty cool blog today. Always looking to further educate myself about my own city above all other things, i kinda was surprised i hadn't run across it before. This is what they say about them selves:

The Deli is an 3 years old independent publication and website that focuses on local indie music scenes and emerging artists (from rock to folk, with a little bit of hip hop). The Deli LA only reviews music from artists based in Los Angeles and surroundings, but currently publishes a printed magazine about the NYC music scene and has daily updated , separate webpages tackling the new emerging music in NYC, LA, SF and Nashville.

The Deli LA is a daily updated website focused on the independent music scene of the LA Area. Its used as a resource for Los Angeles musical artists and fans. We want to be a place for bands to share their music with others, and for fans to make their own decisions about what local music they enjoy.

don't make me say remember when

I've probably seen Castledoor and the Flying Tourbullion Orchestra about 3 times each and i have to say they get better every time. Castledoor being the better of the two. I also love that all the shows they've played I've been able to walk to from my house. They are one of those bands that are unmistakably L.A by that i mean they're perfect sunny pop, catchy and depressing at same time. Just as the city can be such a paradox of realities for some, they manage to capture that in these amazing 3 minute songs. I bought their E.P. the first time i saw them at the Echo and instantly loved it. The song remember when can almost bring me to tears at times. If you live in LA and have some free time tonight check them both out. They will be at the Scene out in Glendale and play between the hours 10:30-11:15. Its definitely worth suffering thru the crowd of hipsters wearing leather headbands and fringe. Oh yeah...and they're also play Sunset Junction this year so if you miss out make sure to catch them then.
